In an outstanding logistical operation, Ian Taylor, a Empresas Taylor company, successfully coordinated the direct discharge into the water of a 50 tonne electric tug in the port of Puerto Montt, which was on board a BBC Chartering vessel, one of the world’s leading project cargo shipping companies, represented in Chile by Ian Taylor.

The manoeuvre was carried out with the support of the vessel’s own crane, which transported the tug on its main deck. In order to execute the discharge safely, it was necessary to partially separate the vessel from the berthing site, which allowed it to stabilise its position and perform the manoeuvre directly on the water, where the tug was carefully hooked up for its controlled descent.

“We coordinate all the services and procedures necessary to execute an operation of this magnitude, from planning to the final discharge into the water. This type of manoeuvre reaffirms our ability to operate complex logistics projects in different ports around the country,” said Alvaro Guajardo, Vessel Operations Coordinator at Ian Taylor.
