Empresas Taylor posts its new Pilot and Port Launches to Chile’s northern ports

Following its strategic plan, in 2016 Empresas Taylor started with the construction of a modern fleet of launches for pilots and port use, which seek to improve the availability safety and security of the services provided to its customers. These boats have been destined to different ports in Chile.

The first one, the LPP Taylor Alicura, built at the end of 2016, is providing services in the Bay of Concepción.

During the first semester of 2017, the LPP Taylor Batro and LPP Taylor Calafquén were received, and were positioned in the ports of Coquimbo and Mejillones, respectively.

The posting of LPP Taylor Batro to the Bay of Coquimbo, has permitted the reassignment of the LPP Rio Conay, which operated in the port of Coquimbo, to the Bay of Arica, in August of this year.

The new launches, built at the ASCON shipyard and operating under the Ian Taylor brand, stand out for their steel hull and superstructure, capacity for 11 people, a bollard pull of 6, 5 tons, an operating speed of 12 knots and a maximum speed of 18 knots. They have an overall length of 14.14 meters; a 4.47 meters molded breadth and an 0.80 meter draft; propulsion is by two fixed pitch propellers, coupled to two MAN D 2676 main engines of 440 horsepower at 1,800 revolutions per minute.
