During October, the Ian Taylor team had the privilege of assisting the German research vessel RV Sonne during its port calls in Antofagasta and Mejillones, as part of its voyage from Papeete to Panama.

The RV Sonne is a research vessel dedicated to oceanographic and scientific exploration, transporting highly sensitive and precise instruments and materials. Its port call required specialized handling to ensure safe, efficient, and well-coordinated operations.

Thanks to the joint efforts of our agency and husbandry teams, multiple logistical operations were successfully carried out, including:

• Transfer of containers with scientific cargo
• Loading and unloading of spare parts and provisions
• Transportation of scientists and crew members
• Coordination of bunker services and hazardous waste disposal
