The ceremony took place at Terminal Portuario Callao – ENAPU at noon, with representatives of the Peruvian maritime industry.

The TAYCO Ampato –quechua name that evocates the Ampato Volcano in Arequipa- is the most recent addition to Ian Taylor & Company’s fleet in Perú, after the addition of TAYCO Alcoy in 2009, thus completing a fleet of 4 units in that country.

TAYCO Ampato was built for Ian Taylor & Company in Wuxi, China, has two Niigata engines of 2000 PS of power, Niigata azimuthal propulsion systems, has a performance of 55 TON bollard pull and will be commissioned to the port of Callao.

With this investment Ian Taylor & Company reaffirms its commitment to keep at the edge of technological vanguard, providing a world class service to its clients.

‘Empresas Taylor’ opened their new offices in Valparaiso on Wednesday 18 November of 2009 in a ceremony that brought together the key local authorities and major customers of the Company related to the business and to the national shipping sector

Located on the sixth and seventh floors of a modern building situated on Calle Blanco 937 of the city, these facilities, in addition to the extensive branch network that the Company owns in the main ports of Chile, Peru and Ecuador, are characterized by their spacious design, as they occupy an area over 1800 m2 in total.

Also, they are noted for having an innovative infrastructure, coupled with  brightness and transparency, characteristics that allow better communication and optimal control, improving operational processes, development of the workers and the use of technology.

In his speech, the General Manager of Empresas Taylor, Matthew Taylor, thanked those persons who participated in this project, referring to its importance for the Company.

“We have gathered here to inaugurate these Offices that will welcome us for many years. This is the area in which the people who work in the Taylor Companies will operate, so with the architects we selected a design that promotes efficient and is highly oriented to meet goals, but with a clear component of teamwork. Open spaces and plenty of meeting rooms prove it”, said the executive.

The fact of having more space available for accommodating its employees in a Group of Companies that have been growing in recent years, to have facilities that generate a more collaborative work environment and to be an example for local companies to invest in Valparaiso are some of the advantages of this office, according to Matthew Taylor. Regarding the benefits that these new offices will provides to their national and international clients, the executive said it will allow us to project a more robust image and offer better attention, however, he acknowledged that “probably the most important effect that we are going to see is the benefit that people who work here will receive, which will lead them to deliver a better level of service to our customers“.

At the same time, the General Manager of Empresas Taylor recognized that this initiative forms part of a process of renewal of the physical and technological infrastructure that the Company has conducted this year despite the current economic situation, which also included the construction of a Placilla container depot, which began operating in April, and the introduction of SAP in their offices in Chile and Peru.

According the Managing Director of Ian Taylor & Company, Simon Mackenzie, “the greater space of this new offices that will allow us to work more closely in the chain that the shipping business creates, will be very beneficial and I hope that we can achieve better productivity and results. In addition, customers will see the seriousness and solidarity behind our businesses, both in its processes and in its assets and operations”.

Those attending the event also highlighted this as a great milestone for the Company,recognising  it is an important step towards consolidation in the domestic and international markets.

The Mayor of Valparaiso, Ivan de la Maza, noted that these offices “have many connections to the Taylor family, therefore, there is much affection and creativity. They also demonstrate the commitment, confidence and the tremendous bond that this family has with this port and the sea. This Company is part of the Valparaíso way of life and I am very glad that they have taken the decision to open these new facilities”.

According to the Business Manager of Sodimac Logistics, Ronald Peake, this not only demonstrates “the development that has been taking place in the shipping industry in recent years despite the economic difficult times that we have lived in,” but also will allow this company, “with which we have a long term relationship in the shipment of Derco cars, also to have better communication facilities and in customer service”.

Finally, the Freight Forwarding Manager of Bertling Logistics Chile SA, Marcelo Dazarola, commented that “having a new office demonstrates the soundness and the position that Empresas Taylor have in the market and its good business and financial management, which is a strong support for us as customers. It also speaks highly of its past, present and future and how they are projected for the coming years. It is also an icon in the Valparaíso region, since the Company was formed and still maintains its headquarters here, something that no other Agencies have done”, he concluded

The lifting maneouver of this 467 tone unit, was carried out smoothly. The tug will arrive at the Port of Callao by mid March 2010.  After being registered under the Peruvian flag, it will begin its activities, assisting Ian Taylor & Company’s clients in Peru. We congratulate Ian Taylor Peru for this new addition to its fleet.
